Soil Stabilisation

Soil Stabilisation

With increasing costs applied to the traditional process of ‘dig & dump’, soil stabilisation/ modification is becoming increasingly popular on development sites where surplus site won materials are present, and large quantities of imported stone are necessary to achieve required finished floor levels.

With minimal costs Earth-Tech Solutions Ltd can provide a solution and design to produce a varying degree of engineered strengths from on site materials in conjunction with the clients requirements. Engineered fill and subbase replacement layers are the more commonly known, however, other alternatives are achievable.

Piling Mats and working platforms can also be designed minimising the requirement to import significant quantities of stone (which in most situations is sacrificial) and permitting more site materials to be utilised.

Embankments can also often go unnoticed and cause problems on sites – we format the earthworks and stabilisation operation to ensure that embankments and slopes are accommodated for within our designs where possible.

Projects which incorporate soil stabilisation have benefits such as - reduced landfill costs, less vehicular movements to and from site, are favourable to a site waste management plan and provide a cost effective alternative to using conventional aggregates which in turn creates environmental benefits.

Lime Stabilisation

Lime stabilisation has many uses, one of the main benefits of utilising lime stabilisation is to increase the strength and engineering properties of unsuitable cohesive materials for use as a general fill by regulating the moisture content within the lime stabilised soils.

Cement Stabilisation

Cement stabilisation can be utilised on most construction sites either in conjunction with other binders or on its own. Cement stabilisation provides increased strengths to site won soils allowing them to be utilised from capping replacement materials to CBM surfaces with the main principal being to reduce offsite disposal and imported aggregates. Strengths can range from 5% CBR's (general fill) to in excess of a 30% CBR (sub-base) dependent upon requirements.
